I am setting up a goldfish tank in a “coffee table” aquarium. The base of this tank is about 6″ above the floor level. If I set up a canister filter at floor level (about 6″ lower than the base of the aquarium), is that sufficient for the the filter to work effectively?

I put a Aqua Glo bulb (15 watt) in my aquarium of guppies, neon tetras, etc…I had it on last night & noticed that the fish didn’t seem to be as bright in color as they used to. Could they be fading? The water was a little cloudy because I’d just put in some waste control & it says it can fog the water for a bit. So could that be it or maybe my eyes playing tricks on me? Thanks!

I have 4 angelfish, 3 bala sharks and a pleco and was wondering about the aquarium light. I have heard varying reasons to have the light on or off, so are there any real guidelines to running the aquarium light? The tank is in a moderate light area (Some sunlight from across the room, but no windows near by).

I recently bought me a 26 gallon freshwater aquarium. I am relatively new to aquariums so I was wondering about how many fish should I put in there without causing nitrate and ammonia to skyrocket? Thanks in advanced

I went to my local Home Depot and found myself some Play Sand, but I ended up not liking the color or the amount of cleaning it needed. I have heard that Silica Sand is much lighter and nicer to deal with for freshwater aquariums, and it won’t affect the water chemistry much if at all. There is just one problem, I can’t find it anywhere! Does it go under any other names?

I want to add a wet dry filter to my aquarium, how is the flow regulated? i have a 390 gph pump, how do i get the water coming out at exactly 390gph?
